A place to unwind and calm down

At Villa Lage, we privilege the simple pleasures; those simple things that bonds us with the surroundings creating emotional and cultural links. Here you may flow with the seasons enjoying the warmth and cosiness of wintertime or the freshness and joy of summertime.

Algarve is one of the few countries in Europe to enjoy 300 days of sunshine per year. Hiking, cycling, bird watching among other activities may be enjoyed even during the winter. As a private-owned villa you have access to a library filled with books written in English and Portuguese, including fiction, travel and lifestyle, cooking, architecture and design as well as a collection of Classic DVD films to play on the TV screen.

Enjoy tranquil mornings and have breakfast graced by the scent of jasmine and lavender from the manicured gardens surrounding the villa. Bask in the quietude and allow yourself to connect with the garden, the sea, and your inner serenity.

Or, savor some fresh oysters and indulge with a bottle of Rosé to anticipate an eventually festive night with your friends that may drop by for a visit.

Dig into Algarve’s gastronomic and agricultural heritage. Delight in the smell of figs, olives, honey, oranges, and lemon trees. The region is very well known for its wines, oysters, and fresh fish.

This is a timeless Place with no obligations. You set the pace for how you would like things to be done.

At any time an exclusive dinner in the garden can be arranged - we will set the candelabra and twinkling lights to illuminate the scene. Should you wish, a private butler is available to serve dinner and drinks (price under request).

The house is located in a quiet area but if you would like to do more than relax there are plenty of activities available in at moment’s notice. Arrangements may be made for a private concierge to plan and coordinate various experiences and activities:

Cristal water and 37 miles along the white sand beaches

Villa Lage is located in the center of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a natural park stretching along 60 km of the Algarve coast and protected from the sea by 5 barrier islands and 2 peninsulas. Tidal flats across the Ria are a sanctuary for more than 200 species of birds. Ria Formosa is a well-preserved area with sweeping views of white-sand beaches, estuaries and Deltas, lagoons, salt flats, and marshes.

This is an unspoiled region of the eastern Algarve, famous for its stunning scenery, fishing and birdlife.

Tavira and Santa Luzia

Tavira is one of the most elegant and beautiful towns in the Algarve with fine 18th century buildings and 37 churches. It is a fascinating place to explore through winding narrow cobbled streets and pastel-coloured houses with distinctive tiled roofs lining the river Gilão. The Castle walls border the medieval center of the town encompassing a tranquil garden. Climb to the top of the walls and a rich tapestry of tiled rooftops appears below stretching away to the mosiac of saltpans before reaching the blue Atlantic ocean.

Santa Luzia is located at half way towards Tavira and is a small and picturesque village with a rich fishing heritage, famous for the fresh caught seafood, particularly Octopus. Santa Luzia is one of the most captivating sights with colorful fishing boats moored along the waterfront. As you stroll along the shoreline, you’ll be mesmerised by the Kaleidoscope of colours reflected in the tranquil waters special during sunrise and sunset.
